Therapeutic Laser

What is Therapeutic Laser?

Therapeutic Laser is a fast, gentle, painless treatment for your pet. Photobiomodulation, also known as therapeutic laser, is the application of light energy to areas of the body to stimulate healing. The gentle, warm laser targets your pet’s damaged cells and helps them regenerate faster. For example, therapeutic laser reduces pain by decreasing inflammation, as well as by decreasing tissue chemicals that stimulate pain and by affecting nerve conduction. Therapeutic laser also enhances healing by increasing microcirculation (blood flow through the smaller blood vessels of the body), stimulating cellular activity, and increasing growth factors.

Sweetie Pie’s Laser Therapy

Virtually any medical laser has potential to do damage if used improperly. Proper training about a device, and how to use it safely, gives practitioners and staff the confidence that patients can be treated without harm. Our trained professionals take all necessary precautions to minimize the risk of side effects. We use protective eyewear for your pet, adjust the laser’s intensity, and closely monitor the entire process.

During a treatment session, the veterinary technician moves the laser wand slowly back and forth over the affected area, producing a warm, pleasant sensation that most pets seem to enjoy and find relaxing. Sessions usually last 10 to 30 minutes, with the number of sessions and frequency of treatments dependent on the medical condition. Laser treatment for your pet is pain free and can be comforting.
