Our Commitment to green practices
At NSFP, we are dedicated to reducing our environmental impact through a variety of green initiatives.
We invite both staff and clients to contribute ideas and suggestions for enhancing our eco-friendly practices within the hospital. Our green policies include:

Our green policies include:
- Decrease in Plastic Bags: Honoring the Northbrook ordinance, we are limiting use of plastic bags in office. Although we are exempt due to being a medical office, NSFP has drastically decreased its plastic bag usage.
- Paperless Medical Records: We utilize electronic methods for patient reminders, receipts, and communication with clients and staff to minimize paper use.
- Shredding and Recycling: All paper is shredded and recycled, and we also recycle plastic, glass, and cardboard.
- Cleaning Supplies: We use cloths for cleaning instead of paper towels whenever possible.
- Recycling Toner Cartridges: We recycle toner cartridges and purchase refurbished cartridges when available.
- Reusing Paper: We print on the reverse side of old faxes and used paper for in-house purposes and cut them into scratch paper.
- Reusable Items: We use washable flatware and dishes for pets, and avoid disposable items.
- Innovative Reuse: We repurpose hospital supplies creatively, such as using old IV bags for various needs and cardboard trays as cat litter pans.
- Energy Efficiency: Our facilities use low-flow toilets, CFL bulbs, double-paned glass for energy savings, and Energy Star appliances. Thermostats are adjusted to balance heat and air conditioning.
- Eco-Friendly Disposal: Fecal bags are biodegradable, and trash is consolidated into one central bag.
