Dr. Tamara Gardner grew up on blueberry farm in Bangor, Michigan surrounded by cats, dogs, chickens and horses. Becoming a veterinarian always seemed a natural choice for her. She completed her undergraduate education at Michigan State University and received her Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Science in 1996. She pursued her veterinary education at Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. Dr. Gardner began her career in sunny Florida, then moved to Chicago in 2003 where she practiced until joining the staff at North Shore Family Pet Hospital in 2014.
Surgery, oncology, and internal medicine are among Dr. Gardner's many professional interests. She especially loves getting to know her patients on an individual basis and helping to strengthen the bond between pets and their owners. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association.
When she's not at the hospital, Dr. Gardner enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with husband Chris and son Luke. They share their home with a Golden Retriever, Sadie, and a senior kitty named Peanut.
