Benjamin Shechter, DVM

Dr. Benjamin Shechter attended McGill University where he received a degree in Agricultural Sciences and was class valedictorian. He received his veterinary degree in 1983 from the University of Montreal. Upon graduation, Dr. Shechter completed a one year veterinary internship at the University of Illinois. The following year he was a staff veterinarian at an animal hospital in Israel. He was a veterinarian at Cairo Animal Hospital in Highland Park, IL from 1987 until 2011.

Dr. Shechter is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Assocation. He considers it a privilege to care for the pets in our community and has amassed many humorous and touching stories through his years of practice. He is continually amazed at the bond between people and their pets. Dr. Ben is blessed with a wonderful wife Judy, and three great children. Also in his family are two devoted and playful dogs: Simcha, and Hershel. His interests include photography, bicycling, and playing guitar.
