Hospitalization

All of us at North Shore Family Pet Hospital understand that hospitalization can be a stressful time for both you and your pet. While in the hospital, your pet’s health and comfort is a priority to us. Excellent medical care combined with a compassionate staff to make your pet comfortable will help your pet to the quickest recovery possible.

General Pet Medicine at North Shore Family Pet Hospital

Our hospital is equipped with:

  • ICU equipped with sophisticated monitoring equipment and skilled nursing care
  • Separate cat and dog wards
  • A large treatment area
  • In-house laboratory
  • Isolation ward for pets with infectious disease
  • Fully-stocked pharmacy
  • Digital radiography
  • Pain management

Critical care patients and those recovering from anesthesia are closely monitored at all times. While hospitalized, we utilize multiple pain management therapies to control pain so your pet is as comfortable as possible until they are fully recovered.

Monitored Care of Chronic Conditions

If your pet has been diagnosed with a chronic condition (for example Cushings disease, diabetes or hypothyroidism) we will perform the routine monitoring that is needed to keep your pet healthy. We can make diet recommendations, recommend changes in medications and treatments, recommend a monitoring schedule, and also refer your pet to the appropriate specialty hospital if your pet is not responding appropriately to the treatments.

Dermatology

Allergies, skin problems and excessive scratching can make your pet miserable. Allergies in dogs and cats are treatable conditions that often show up as skin problems or ear infections. • Parasites (fleas and mites)
  • Autoimmune Diseases
